Let's Celebrate: 2022 - 2023
End of Reception Celebrations
This term our theme has been The Jungle. We have enjoyed exploring stories such as Monkey Puzzle which helped us to learn about life cycles and Rumble in the Jungle where we solved clues to find out what the animal was! We have also enjoyed writing our own animal riddles and a recount of our visit to Farmer Gow's.
In Numeracy, we have been using Numicon pieces to help us learn about odd and even numbers and how to count in twos during our morning meeting. As well as this, we have been continuing to work on our number bonds to 10 and some addition and subtraction facts.
We were very lucky to go on a visit to Farmer Gow’s this term. We learnt how to be farmers for the day, feeding the animals, giving the sheep and goats their bottle of milk and collecting eggs from the hens. Some of us were super brave and fed the cows 'Fred and Ginger'. We also searched for treasure in the hay barn and drove the tractors. We were all so tired that we fell asleep on the way back to school!
As part of our learning about life cycles, we have been looking after some caterpillars this term. We watched as they ate lots of caterpillar food and grew bigger, spun cocoons around themselves and then emerged as butterflies. We then let them go to live in the wild.
We have taken part in school events such as the sponsored walk and the disco where we danced to our favourite tunes. Reception have learnt so much this year and have visited their new classes ready for Year 1 in September.
