We have been very busy in Year 6 this term, learning all about how the circulatory system works, how we should live a healthy lifestyle through what happens to our heart when we exercise, eating a balanced diet as well as the negative effects of alcohol and drugs on the body. We even held our own healthy living information session for our parents to come in and learn more from us – our Science lessons and DT seasonal soup-making project certainly helped here!

This term, we have focused on the poetry of Philip Gross. We read and analysed many of them, practised using figurative language to write our own poems. Performing some of his poems in our groups was good fun too. Our appreciation of poetry has really grown. In Geography, we have been learning about Sustainability and discovered just how far our food travels, considered our carbon footprints as well as what really need as opposed to our wants and luxuries. We will continue to work on being more sustainable in our daily lives.

December brought us the Christmas Concert at Holy Rood Church where we were delighted to sing and give readings to celebrate the birth of Jesus with our families and friends. Then we had the excitement of the Snow White pantomime at the Wyvern Theatre, making goodies for the Christmas Fayre, Christmas Dinner and finally our Christmas Mass in school which we were lucky enough to lead. What a busy term – we are truly thankful for everything we do.
